A man will pass up modern rhyme,
To read "The Classics" one more time.
Young artists face a strong critique,
We cite "The Masters" great technique.
New-pressed wine is stored away,
We seek a vintage wines' bouquet.
Of all the hundreds, passing by,
A "classic car" still draws the eye.
And so it's hard to understand,
How age can be, a flaw, in man.
So many of us seem to feel,
That "youth" expresses our ideal.
While age, in things, is often prized,
It seems, in man, to be despised.
I see this rev'rence of the young,
As a bare canvas, framed, and hung,
Acclaimed by critics, far and wide,
Before the paint has been applied!
Though youth exudes vitality,
Time's the test, of quality.
